Permits, passes, and current notices

A park pass covers parking at every Long Beach Unit lot. Camping and the Broken Group Islands need a separate, advance-booked permit — and conditions can close things without warning.

Passes and permits

A day pass covers parking, not camping

Parking at every Long Beach Unit lot — Long Beach, Incinerator Rock, Radar Hill, Grice Bay — requires a valid park pass, available as four-hour, daily, or annual passes from lot machines or the Tourism Tofino Visitor Centre. This pass does not cover camping anywhere in the park; that requires a separate reservation and permit, and camping without one is illegal.

The Broken Group Islands close entirely to overnight camping from October 1 through April 30 each year, though day use remains legal year-round with a valid entry pass. Trail and beach closures happen periodically for storm damage, wildlife activity, or extreme wave warnings — Parks Canada's own bulletin page is the only source to trust over a blog post, including this one.
