Tofino & Ucluelet area

Where to stay: three real options

The right base depends on what kind of trip this is — excursions and nightlife, quiet and storm-watching, or minimizing the drive to the park itself.

Tofino
Most food/lodging, most traffic
Ucluelet
Quieter, closer to park entrance
Park-adjacent
Closest to trails, fewer options
Booking lead time
Months ahead for summer

Matching a base to the trip

Tofino, Ucluelet, or somewhere in between

Tofino has the widest range of restaurants, lodging, and excursion operators, at the cost of the most summer congestion and generally higher prices. Ucluelet offers a quieter, slightly more affordable alternative that's genuinely closer to the Long Beach Unit's main entrance.

A handful of properties sit directly along Highway 4 within the park boundary or immediately adjacent to it, minimizing drive time to the trails and beaches at the cost of fewer dining options within walking distance. Summer weekends in July and August book out months ahead across all three options.

Park-adjacent properties trade dining variety for proximity to the trails.
