Kwisitis Visitor Centre & Wickaninnish Beach

At the south end of Wickaninnish Beach, Kwisitis is the park's main exhibit hall and one of the best storm- and whale-watching decks on the coast — useful on a day when the weather makes the beach itself less appealing.

Exhibits on the land, sea, sky, and people

Kwisitis houses exhibits on the region's marine mammals and rainforest, First Nations stories, and a replica longhouse and whale hunt display, alongside large-format murals. It's a genuinely useful stop for context before heading onto the trails or beaches, not just a gift shop with a view.

The outside deck looks directly over Wickaninnish Beach and is a legitimate year-round spot to watch whales offshore, storms roll in, or surfers working the break below — sheltered from the wind that makes the beach itself uncomfortable on a rough day.

The covered deck is one of the more comfortable vantage points on this coast in poor weather.
