Boardwalk loops versus longer forest routes

The Rainforest Trail's two short loops are the most accessible old-growth walk on this coast, built specifically as boardwalk to protect the forest floor and keep visitors out of the mud most of the year. Longer, less-maintained forest routes exist elsewhere in the region but require more preparation and tolerance for genuinely wet, root-covered ground.

This coast gets significant rainfall most months, and storm-felled trees occasionally close sections of trail until Parks Canada crews can clear them — checking current trail status before a visit is a real, not theoretical, precaution.
