- ~2 km, both loops
- Typical time
- 30–60 minutes
- Surface
- Boardwalk with stairs
- Elevation change
- ~150 ft via stairs
Loop A and Loop B
The highway splits it into two short loops
The Pacific Rim Highway physically divides the Rainforest Trail into two roughly 1 km loops on opposite sides of the road, each a self-contained figure-eight of boardwalk descending beneath enormous old-growth redcedar and hemlock. Neither loop connects directly to Long Beach or the ocean — this is a forest walk, not a beach approach.
Both loops are rated easy for distance but involve numerous stairs, which add real physical effort despite the short length. Boardwalks can be slick after the rain this coast gets most of the year; grippy footwear matters more than trail length here.
